DECATUR, Ala. – The Adrian College bass fishing team recently competed in a pair of events down south over the last two weeks. The Bulldogs kicked off their trip at the Pickwick Slam, hosted by BPS Collegiate, where they placed five teams in the top 58. This past weekend, two Bulldog boats qualified for the 2024 MLF National Championship and competed at Wheeler Lake.
At the Pickwick Slam, Jerry Brumbaugh Jr. and Paxton Giem led the Bulldogs with an impressive second-place finish, weighing in at 24.77 pounds. Owen Januszewski and Derek Rodriguez followed closely behind, placing fifth with 23.98 pounds. Mitch Straffon and Matt Mosby secured 22nd place with a weight of 20.08 pounds. Lucas Washburn and Gavyn Rapp finished 45th at 17.40 pounds, followed by Nick Owens and Tyler Zwick in 58th with 16.04 pounds.
The MLF National Championship featured a field of 135 boats. Mathias Dahline and Henry Vincent finished 90th with a combined weight of 23 pounds, 3 ounces from ten fish. Cole Carr and Brady Pinwar placed 104th, reeling in ten fish for a total of 19 pounds, 2 ounces.
The Bulldogs will return to action April 30–May 1 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, as they compete in their second B.A.S.S. Lunkers Division competition of the season.
