AZLE, Texas – The Adrian College bass fishing team competed in the College Series of the Bassmaster Classic last weekend, where the duo of Elliot Wielgopolski and Aaron Jagdfeld earned a strong third-place finish. Competing against 22 anglers and 12 boats, the pair secured a total weight of 16 pounds, 12 ounces.
To qualify for this prestigious event, Wielgopolski and Jagdfeld had to win the Legends Series Division last season.
During the competition, the duo faced a slow start, struggling to get bites in the morning. However, after relocating, they quickly caught three bass. Later in the day, they made a key upgrade, adding two more fish to reach the five-fish limit. Their strong finish earned them third place on one of the biggest stages in collegiate bass fishing.
"Overall, this was an incredible experience for Aaron and me," Wielgopolski said. "We're proud to have represented Adrian College at such a prestigious event."
This tournament marked the final competition for Wielgopolski and Jagdfeld in their collegiate fishing careers as they graduate this year.
The team will return to action on Friday, March 28, when they compete in the Abu Garcia Major League Fishing Tournament on Kentucky Lake, starting at 8:00 AM ET.
