CLEWISTON, Fla. – The Adrian College bass fishing team kicked off its 2025 season this week, competing in the Bassmaster College Series Lunkers Division. With ten boats in the water, the team finished strong among the 235-boat field, placing five teams in the top-52.
Jerry Brumbaugh Jr. and Quade Lobo secured a spot in the National Championship this August with a 21st-place finish, totaling 26 pounds, 13 ounces over the two-day event. Paxton Giem and Nick Seitz followed closely behind, placing 33rd with 24 pounds, 8 ounces, while Mathias Dahline and Henry Vincent rounded out the top-50 with 23 pounds, 5 ounces in 43rd.
Owen Januszewski and Mitch Straffon finished with 22 pounds, 8 ounces, earning them 5th place, and Nick Owens and Noah Varitek placed 52nd with 22 pounds, 4 ounces.
In addition, Gavyn Rapp and Derek Rodriguez earned top honors in the Minn Kota Hummingbird contingency, winning the latest technology from the brand for their impressive placement. The high-tech equipment will allow them to scan the water ahead of the boat for enhanced navigation.
With several opportunities remaining, other Bulldog teams will aim to qualify for the National Championship at future Lunkers Division events later this season. The next competition is scheduled for March 7 in Grove, Oklahoma, at MLF Grand Lake.
