Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball team went up against Calvin College, the ninth ranked
team in the country on Friday night, but was unable to come up with
a win against the Knights. The Bulldogs fell in straight sets 3-0
(25-13, 25-14, 25-23). Adrian's record now stands at 9-9
overall and 3-6 in the MIAA.
Adrian started the mach off behind the eight ball as they were
down two starters, junior Roxanne
Duran and freshman Danielle
Bogedin. Down after the first two sets, Adrian rallied back in
the third set as they fought to take a game from the top team in
the MIAA. The Knights were too strong and able to outlast the
Bulldogs in the final set as they were able to hold on for the
sweep.
For Adrian, the offense was led by senior Rebecca
Tincknell who had a team-high eight kills while helping the
defense with eight digs and tied for the match-high with two solo
blocks. Sophomore Kelly
MacDonald had five kills while adding in six digs. Freshman Elise
Mindick had four kills off the bench while knocking down two
blocks and getting three digs. Stephanie
Holloman, a sophomore added in two kills to go along with two
blocks and five digs.
The defense for the Bulldogs was led by senior Jamie
Taylor who had a match-high 14 digs.
Adrian will host a tri-match on Saturday, October 9th
against Kalamazoo and Manchester (Ind.) starting at 11:00 a.m.
