The rematch between 17th-ranked Calvin College and the Adrian College volleyball went to the Knights on Friday night in three sets. Calvin won by the game scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 as they earned their 14th win of the season. Adrian never could gain any substantial momentum during the match as Calvin simply had the stronger hitters on this night.
Calvin hit .306 for the match with a total of 45 kills, 10 attack errors and 108 total attacks. Erin VanderPlas got off to a slow start but finished strong with a match-high 12 kills. She hit .296 for the match and had one block assist. Jessica Garlick had nine kills on 18 attacks with no errors for a .500 hitting percentage. She also had three block assists.
Adrian hit .115 for the match with a total of 31 kills, 19 attack errors and 104 total attacks. Mary Rinke had the best hitting percentage at .267 with seven kills, three errors and 15 attacks. She recorded a double-double with 10 digs and also had a service ace. Jenny Carlson led the team with eight kills and had two block assists. Samantha Mercy led the team with 17 digs. Calvin finished with seven team blocks while Adrian had five. The Bulldogs are now 10-10 overall and 6-6 in the MIAA. They began the day in fourth place in the league.
