COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Adrian College softball team was back in action on Tuesday as they traveled on the road for a doubleheader against Capital University. The Bulldogs claimed game one 9-1 before sweeping the doubleheader with a 6-2 win in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the third after taking advantage of a pair of Capital errors.
- In the fourth inning, Ava Wolfe had an RBI on a bunt followed by a 2-RBI double from Meghan Kowalyk.
- Capital scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-1.
- In the sixth inning, Abbie Hoff drove in a pair of runs a 2-RBI single up the middle. Addison Inskeep had an RBI single in the inning to lead 8-1.
- In the top of the seventh, Peyton Russell knocked one out of the park for a solo home run to win 9-1.
- Taylor Gerhardt went 5-for-5 at the plat on Tuesday while Russell finished 3-for-4. Gerhardt ties the record for most hits in a single game with five. She ties Katie Adams who had five hits on March 16, 2011 against Siena Heights.
- Avery Clark went the distance on the rubber tossing seven innings allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Capital took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a single to left field.
- In the fourth, Wolfe drew a bases loaded walk before Gerhardt singled down the left field line to make it 2-1.
- Capital responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game 2-2.
- Adrian added four more in the sixth inning after drawing a pair of bases loaded walks before an error by Capital to score two and win 6-2.
- Gerhardt and Hanna Walker finished the game with three hits for Adrian.
- Kira Stacey got the start on the rubber tossing 3.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits. Hoff pitched 3.2 innings in relief allowing no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.

The Bulldogs move to 6-6 on the season and will return to action in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on Friday, March 13 against Millikin and MSOE. The first game is scheduled for 12:15 PM.
