ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Adrian College softball team kicked off a busy weekend in Kentucky on Friday with a doubleheader. The Bulldogs opened the trip with a 16-8 win over Millikin before defeated MSOE 9-6. The Bulldogs moved to 8-6 on the season with the two victories and improve their winning streak to four games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1

• The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 in the first inning, but Karsyn Malinich smacked a solo home run before Ava Wolfe singled in a run to tie the game.
• Millikin added a pair of runs in the third which was answered by an RBI double from Hanna Walker to make it 4-3.
• Millikin made it 7-3, but the Bulldogs responded with six runs in the fourth inning. Meghan Kowalyk drove in two on a single, followed by an RBI single from Walker and a 3-RBI single from Peyton Russell.
• Adrian added five in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Malinich, and 2-run shot from Kowalyk, a sacrifice fly from Walker, and an RBI grounder from Emmi Liptow.
• Millikin scratched a run across in the sixth, but Adrian enforced the mercy rul after an RBI double by Kowalyk and a bases loaded walk to Walker to win by eight.
• The Bulldogs finished the game with 17 hits led by three from Russell, Addison Inskeep, and Kowalyk.
• Avery Clark made the start on the rubber tossing 3.1 innings allowing seven runs on nine hits. Abbie Hoff earned the win in relief with 2.2 innings pitched allowing one run on four hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2

• The Bulldogs and the Raiders traded runs in the first inning before MSOE led 2-1 in the third.
• Adrian added six runs in the fourth on a 2-RBI single from Wolfe, a double by Kowalyk, and three runs coming around to score on MSOE errors.
• MSOE responded with three in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-5, Adrian.
• Maddisyn Miller drove in a run in the fifth inning followed by an RBI single from Taylor Gerhardt to make it 9-5.
• MSOE scored a run in the fifth inning, but was held scoreless the rest of the way which locked up an Adrian victory.
• Gerhardt led the team with three hits in the game while Miller and Wolfe recorded two.
• Kira Stacey started on the mound tossing 2.1 innings allowing two runs on five hits. Hoff picked up her second win of the day in relief allowing three runs on five hits in 1.2 innings while Lillian Utrup earned the save with three innings pitched.

Adrian continues its weekend in Kentucky tomorrow when they face Maryville College at 11:00 AM followed by a game against Transylvania University at 3:30 PM.
