ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College MD2 hockey team headed out to MD1 University of Michigan-Flint Friday evening with a 3-2 victory. The Bulldogs hosted the Wolverines Saturday evening ending in a dominate 6-0 victory.
Adrian opened up the scoring in the first period of Friday evening's game at 17:56 when
Tyler Hissong found the back of the net on the power-play, while
Griffin Clark and
Gabe Arteaga recorded helpers. Clark extended the Bulldogs lead in the second period just 25 seconds in off a feed from
Easton Green. Adrian headed into the third period with the 2-0 lead. Just 31 seconds into the third, Brady Desmadryl scored with the help from
Michael Tucker and
Tyler Ackerman. Michigan-Flint attempted to come back scoring two goals in the third period, however that would not be enough to let them back into the game, with the Bulldogs taking the 3-2 victory after the final buzzer. Shots were held almost even at 32-29 in favor of the Bulldogs. In goal,
Petr Sup stopped 27 of 29 shots on goal from the Wolverines.
Adrian came out hot Saturday evening, scoring four goals in just the first period. 2:19 into the game Braeden Mcnamara found the back of the net off a feed from
Dylan Callahan. Just shortly after, John Carper netted his tenth goal of the season with help from Hissong and Aaron Guilbord.
Tyler Milazzo found the back of the net at 17:08, while
Greg Obrycki and
Shaun Potts added helpers and just under two minutes later,
Michael Tucker scored with helpers from
Harry Dembowski and Mcnamara, giving the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.
Everett Bosak extended Adrian's lead to five off feeds from Carper and Dembowski at 8:04 of the second period. Carper netted his second goal of the game 6:41 in the third period with Clark and Mcnamara adding assists. Despite the score, Flint recorded more shots on goal than the Bulldogs, 41-36. Goaltender
Dylan Callahan started the first half of the game recorded the win and shutout making 17 saves, while
Lorenzo Culasso closed out the game making 24 saves and recording a shutout as well.
The MD2 Bulldogs will finish their regular season Saturday as they host Calvin University for a 4:00 PM puck drop.
