ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's volleyball team opened MIAA conference play on their home court at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, hosting The University of Olivet. Despite a spirited effort, the Bulldogs fell in straight sets to a strong Comets squad.
The opening set was a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading points early on. Adrian showed strong energy and execution, but Olivet was able to pull ahead late, claiming the set 25-18. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the second, mounting several key rallies and pushing the pace, but ultimately came up just short, 25-19.
Offensively, Virginia Rowan led the charge for Adrian with six kills, while Kayla Chan added five of her own. Emma Leinberger stepped up to lead the offense, recording 14 assists on the night.
On the defensive end, Leinberger also made her presence felt, tying with Rainie Atherton and Kora Nicolanti for a team-high nine digs apiece.
In the third and final set, Olivet found its rhythm early and controlled the tempo throughout, closing out the match with a 25-15 win.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, October 3 where they will take a short trip to Alma, Michigan to face Alma College at 6:30 PM.
