ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College NCSA D1 softball team closed out their fall home slate with a doubleheader against Mott Community College, splitting the series with a 12-6 loss in game one before bouncing back for a 6-4 win in game two.
Game One
Mott jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. Adrian showed some fight in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs, but the Bears extended their lead in the fourth. The Bulldogs rallied late with three runs in the seventh, but the comeback fell short in a 12-6 defeat.
- Kaitlyn Fry led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance.
- Gianna Evans added a 2-for-4 day with a run scored and an RBI.
- Anna Ignatoski went a perfect 2-for-2, crossing the plate twice.
Game Two
The Bulldogs flipped the script in the nightcap, striking first with single runs in the first and second innings. Mott answered with two in the fourth, but Adrian responded quickly, regaining the lead in the bottom half of the frame. The Bulldogs padded their advantage with runs in the fifth and sixth, building a three-run cushion. Despite a late push from Mott in the seventh, Adrian held on to secure a 6-4 victory and end their home slate on a high note.
Up Next: The Bulldog are back in action on Saturday, September 27 where they will face Illinois State University at 1:00 PM and the University of Wisconsin at 3:00 PM.
