ELKHART, Ind. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 softball team competed in the NCSA Invite over the weekend, earning two wins against strong competition.
In the opening game, the Bulldogs battled Illinois State University in a high-scoring contest but came up just short, 13-11.
Elizabeth Grady went 2-for-5 at the plate, while Courtney Roberston delivered a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Hayden Cutler also went 2-for-4 with a run, and
Kaitlyn Fry provided a big spark offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a run scored.
The Bulldogs continued play against the University of Wisconsin, falling 8-7 in another close matchup. Cutler went 2-for-4 with a run scored, Fry went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and the offense continued to produce despite the narrow loss.
Adrian broke through in their third game on Saturday with a 7-3 victory over Grand Valley State University.
Michelle Huffman went 2-for-5 with an RBI,
Gianna Evans added a 2-for-4 effort, and Fry stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored to help secure the Bulldogs' first win of the Invite.
On Sunday, Adrian faced Illinois State for a doubleheader. The Bulldogs edged out a thrilling 12-11 win in the first matchup, highlighted by three-hit performances from Huffman, Evans, and Robertson. In the tournament finale, Illinois State's pitching proved too much as Adrian dropped an 11-0 decision.

Greer Simpson, and Cutler each recorded a hit in the loss.
