ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCSA D1 softball team hosted Henry Ford Community College over Homecoming weekend, dropping both games of a hard-fought doubleheader, 7-4 and 12-5.
Game One:
Henry Ford struck early, putting up three runs across the first four innings. Adrian got on the board with a run in the fourth and later rallied for three more in the sixth, but the comeback fell just short in the 7-4 loss.
Greer Simpson paced the Bulldogs with a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
Michelle Huffman added a 2-for-3 performance with a run scored, while
Kaitlyn Fry chipped in with a 1-for-2 outing and an RBI.
Game Two:
In the second game, Henry Ford once again jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage through five innings. Adrian responded with a big six-run fifth to take the lead, but Henry Ford answered back with eight runs in the final two frames to secure the 12-5 win and the series sweep. Simpson stayed hot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Haley Holmes added a 2-for-3 showing, while
Sara Kozel and Jaylin Bradbury each went 1-for-2 with two RBIs apiece.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, September 23 where they will host Mott Community College for their final doubleheader of the fall season. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM
