ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 7 Adrian College ACHA Men's Division I hockey team hosted No. 2 Niagara University late last week for a two-game conference series. The Bulldogs battled hard but fell short, dropping Thursday's opener 4-1 before suffering a 3-2 overtime loss on Friday.
In Thursday's contest, Niagara jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second period. Dylan Gajewski put the Bulldogs on the board with a power-play goal assisted by Eli Reimer and Cale Strasky. The Purple Eagles added two goals late in the third, including an empty-netter, to seal the 4-1 win. Goaltender Dylan Eliason recorded 21 saves for Adrian.
On Friday afternoon, Matteo Turrin opened the scoring just over a minute into the second period to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Niagara responded with two goals before the end of the frame, but Turrin struck again in the third to even the score and force overtime. In the extra period, the Purple Eagles capitalized during 3-on-3 play to secure the sweep. Peyton Trzaska made 27 saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Adrian will open GL6 Conference play next week when they travel to Roosevelt University on November 14–15. Friday's game is scheduled for 8:20 PM ET, followed by Saturday's matchup at 8:30 PM ET.
