BENSENVILLE, Ill. – The Adrian College ACHA Men's Division I hockey team opened GL6 Conference play over the weekend with a dominant road sweep at Roosevelt University. The Bulldogs controlled both games start to finish, earning a 6-1 win on Friday before rolling to a 10-1 victory on Saturday.
On Friday, Adrian built a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals from
Cale Strasky and
Blake Wideman. Roosevelt cut the deficit to one early in the second, but
Keegan DeCaluwe responded to restore a two-goal lead entering the third. The Bulldogs pulled away in the final frame with goals from
Hunter Allen,
Sebastian Smith, and
Dylan Gajewski to secure the 6-1 result.
Cash Regan and
Eli Reimer each recorded two assists, while goaltender
Peyton Trzaska earned the win with a 14-save performance.
Saturday's matchup featured an even stronger offensive surge. Gajewski and
Carter McLeod opened the scoring to give Adrian a 2-0 advantage after one. The Bulldogs exploded in the second period with goals from Gajewski, Reimer, and
Caleb Minns to take a 5-0 lead into the third. Adrian added four more in the final period as
Matteo Turrin, Reimer, Wideman, and
Ryan Brow found the back of the net. After Roosevelt scored a late power-play goal, Wideman answered with a shorthanded tally to close out the 10-1 win.
Griffin Zaske led the way with four assists, while Strasky added three. Goaltender
Dylan Eliason backstopped the victory with 25 saves.
Adrian continues GL6 Conference play this week with a home-and-home series against Davenport University. The Bulldogs host the Panthers on Thursday, November 20 at 7:05 PM before traveling to complete the series on Friday, November 21 at 7:30 PM.
