ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team faced a challenging home-and-home series against Ohio University. The Bobcats shut out the Bulldogs Thursday night with a 6-0 score on the Bulldogs ice, and Adrian falling 5-1 Friday at Ohio.
The Bobcats came out hard Thursday night, out shooting the Bulldogs 43-28. Freshman
Dylan Callahan started the game for Adrian, making 18 saves off the 22 Bobcat shots on goal before senior
Alexander Herman stepped in at the 4:39 mark of the second period. Herman collected 19 saves off of 21 shots on goal from Ohio.
Friday evening, the Bobcats struck early and often, scoring twice in the opening frame to take a 2–0 lead after one. Ohio continued the pressure in the second period, adding three more tallies to stretch the Bulldogs deficit to 5–0. Adrian broke through late in the second period when
Bazl Cook buried his second goal of the season at 17:08, assisted by
Tyler Hissong. Despite generating 27 shots on goal and pushing for momentum, the Bulldogs couldn't find another answer against a dialed-in Ohio defense. Freshman goaltender
Lorenzo Culasso stood tall in net for Adrian, stopping 38 of 43 shots faced through the full 60 minutes.
The MD2 Bulldogs will look to bounce back Friday and Saturday as they host Lake Superior State for a 7:00pm puck drop on Friday and a 3:00pm puck drop on Saturday.
