Acrobatics and Tumbling Hosts Trine University in Season Opener Friday

ADRIAN, Mich. — On Friday, February 24, the Adrian College acrobatics and tumbling team opened up their 2023 campaign against Trine University. The Thunder would ultimately defeat the Bulldogs 242.235-233.770.

In the Compulsory portion of the meet, the Thunder won by a slim advantage of 32.900-32.500. Later in the Acro segment, the Bulldogs would fall short of Trine University by a score of 59.700-56.800.

"We are performing brand new skills that these athletes have never performed before and have never been shown at Adrian College acrobatics and tumbling", Coach Buffington explained.

Next, the Bulldogs would drop the Acro and Pyramid segments by thin margins, and concluded the competition with a team score of 151.700 in the Tumbling portion of the night. Despite the score, the Bulldogs continued to compete.

"Even after an incident that may have happened they were able to push past it, which is something that we have been preaching in practice", said Coach Buffington. She explained that the acrobatics and tumbling team has been focusing on a "next play" mentality, which she credited to her team today, noting that they were able to push past their mistakes, and by doing so, the team was able to stick to their DNA.

Up Next: The acrobatics and tumbling team will return to action on Tuesday, March 14, at Merillat Sport & Fitness Center at 6:00 PM as they host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
