ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, the Adrian acrobatics and tumbling team defeated Trine University 233.545 to 227.120, concluding the Bulldogs' regular-season with an overall record of 4-2.
Following the announcement of the final scores, the team took a moment to celebrate the careers and contributions of its five seasons, and they were
Courtney Moore,
Hannah Jakaus,
Trinity Smith,
Alexis Harris and
Leah Canterbury.
The locals got off to their strongest start of the season, setting a new season-high score of 33.10 in the Compulsory event. The pyramid heat of
Jessica Philpot, Harris,
Julia Hattley,
Alex Turi,
Morgan Seavolt and
Alessandra Gigliotti trounced the Thunder with a 9.55, while toss heat of
Hailey Brower,
Payton Young,
Jordyn Swinkowski, Harris and Canterbury also broke nine points with a 9.20.
After narrowly dropping the Acro event, the 'Dogs came storming back with a 0.65 margin-of-victory in the Pyramid portion of the afternoon.
That momentum carried over into the second half of competition, with Adrian picking up near season-best scores in both the Toss and Tumbling events.
Despite falling below 80 points for only the second time this season in the Team event, the Bulldogs had built enough of an advantage to hold on for the win.
With the conclusion of the 2022 regular-season, Adrian now looks forward to the NCATA Division III Invitational, which will be hosted by Adrian College on April 23 and 24 inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
