MEQUON, Mich. - At the Ozaukee Ice Center,
Denisa Jandova recorded her 24th-career shutout to help the Adrian women's hockey team come back strong and defeat Concordia-Wisconsin 3-0.
Kaleigh Cadorette,
Une Bjelland and
Reaghan Pietrowski provided the offense for the locals with a goal each, while
Jessica Anderson,
Sydnie Crockett,
Sydney Daversa and
Abbie Grias also contributed points for the victors with one assist apiece.
"We played a little more composed with the puck today," noted head coach
Shawn Skelly. "We had a little more energy, and we started to play out brand of hockey that I think may have got away from us yesterday."
The Bulldogs got off on the same foot as they did Friday evening, striking for the game's first goal less than three minutes into the opening period.
At two minutes and 22 seconds of the first frame, it was Cadorette sneaking home a loose puck to the goaltender's left side, marking her fifth tally of the season.
Then, just over 30 second later, another mad scramble in front of the Falcons' net resulted in a second Adrian goal. In this instance, an extra pair of touches from Daversa and Grias found the tape of Bjelland who popped a shot to the top shelf, beating a sprawling Annalina Van Hercke and doubling the black and gold's advantage.
En route to her 46th win between the pipes for Adrian, Janova made 24 saves, including several clutch stops in the final frame to preserve the clean sheet.
"We had some things not go our way yesterday, and we addressed those things after the game," said Skelly. "I think the team bought into some of the things that we're trying to improve on, and I think that was a big difference."
All told, Adrian (11-6-1, 8-1-0 NCHA) finished with 44 total shots, outshooting the Falcons in each period.
The Bulldogs complete their Wisconsin road trip on Sunday afternoon against Lawrence University. Puck-drop against the Vikings is slated for 1 p.m. EST.
