GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Adrian College baseball teams wrapped up its trip to North Carolina on Sunday with their final game against Montclair State. The No. 9 Bulldogs snapped their three-game losing streak after winning 8-7 to move to 6-3 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the top of the first inning, Jaxon McGuigan started the scoring with a 2-run homer.
- Monclair State responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, but Rolando Jimenez had an RBI groundout and Jack Boike hit a sacrifice fly to lead 4-1.
- Montclair State scored a run in the third before McGuigan was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth to make it 5-2.
- After Montclair State scored two in the fourth to pull within one, Adrian answered scoring a run on an error and a fielder's choice to lead 7-4.
- In the sixth inning, McGuigan launched his second home run of the day to pull ahead 8-4.
- Montclair State added a run in the eight and two in the ninth, but the Adrian bullpen shut the door and held on to win, 8-7.
TOP DAWGS
- McGuigan finished the day 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs for Adrian.
- The Bulldogs stole four bases on the day including one from Jimenez and Boike, and two from Bruder.
- Jaxon Clark earned the start tossing three innings allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Ambrose Horwath pitched in relief where he earned the win after throwing four innings allowing two runs on six hits. Reid Tintsman recorded the save with 0.2 innings pitched allowing no runs on one hit.
- With Sunday's win, head coach Craig Rainey '89 sits one win away from the 850th win of his career as head coach. Coach Rainey is in his 33rd season with the Bulldogs currently sitting at 849-513 with a winning percentage of .623.

Adrian returns to action next weekend with a three-game weekend hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. The Bulldogs will begin the weekend at 4:30 PM ET when they face No. 3 Denison University.
