ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division III baseball team hosted Hillsdale College for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The No. 2 Bulldogs earned a sweep, taking game one 8-4 before closing out the day with a 10-0, five-inning victory in game two.
In the opener, Adrian jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning, capitalizing on a Hillsdale error. Hillsdale answered with three runs in the top of the fourth, but the Bulldogs responded in the bottom half with a triple from Nate Christian and an RBI single from Adam Lashaway to extend the lead.
Adrian added two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Logan Passeggiato and an RBI single from Tate Wyse, pushing the advantage to 8-3. Hillsdale plated one run in the seventh, but the Bulldogs held on for the 8-4 win.
The Bulldogs totaled 11 hits in game one, with Lashaway, Nate Linder, and Sam Sipe each recording two hits. Tyler Clement earned the win on the mound, tossing six innings while allowing two earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts.
In game two, Adrian's offense stayed hot, scoring two runs in the first inning, four in the second, two in the third, and two more in the fifth to secure the mercy-rule victory.
Passeggiato led the Bulldogs with three RBIs, while Dakota Clift and Wyse each tallied two hits. Clift, Wyse, and Connor Davies all recorded doubles, and Passeggiato added a triple. Nate Linder went the distance on the mound, earning the win after allowing no runs on seven hits while striking out three.
Adrian returns to action on Friday, April 3, when it hosts Sault College for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
