Baseball Takes Both Games of Doubleheader to Open Series with Wabash

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Adrian College baseball team traveled to Wabash College for and opened a three-game series on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs took both games in the opening doubleheader 5-2 and 8-3. The No. 21 Bulldogs move to 10-4 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
  • The Bulldogs opened the scoring with four runs in the first inning on an RBI single from Jake Burns, a 2-RBI single from Gabe Jones, and an RBI single from Casey Finn.
  • In the fourth inning, Wabash got on the board with a bases loaded walk and an RBI on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.
  • Adrian scored again in the ninth inning on a bases loaded walk to win 5-2.
  • The Bulldogs finished the game with 12 hits including two from Jack Boike, two from Finn, and two from Brendan Willadsen.
  • From behind the plate, Jones thew two runners out stealing
  • Jaxon Clark got the start for Adrian on the mound where he threw four innings allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts. Parker Faris earned the win in relief after tossing 3.1 innings allowing no hits with three strikeouts. Corbin Kozlowski picked up a save with 1.2 innings to end the game where he allowed no hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
  • Adrian struck first in the top of the first inning on an error by Wabash.
  • Wabash responded in the bottom of the third, but Rolando Jimenez gave Adrian a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI single. Later in the inning, Jones drove in a pair of runs with the bases loaded and came around to score after another Wabash error to lead 6-2.
  • Wabash drove in two on a triple in the fifth inning, but Jones came back with an RBI double in the eighth, followed by DJ Corbett scoring on a passed ball in the ninth to win 8-3.
  • Adrian finished the game with 11 hits with two from Finn, two from Jones, and two from Zach Wade.
  • Edward Bieniasz earned the win on the mound after throwing five innings allowing one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts. Sean Parker pitched four innings in relief allowing three hits while striking out three.

The Bulldogs will look to sweep the series against Wabash tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
