ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Alma College on Saturday afternoon in a must-win game to keep MIAA Tournament hopes alive.
Carson Lutz went on to lead the Bulldogs with a career-high 26 points to defeat Alma 92-72.
In the first half, the Bulldogs came out scoring and led 45-30 at halftime. Adrian shot 50% in the first half and 54.5% from beyond the arc. Alma shot 53.8% but was 0-for-4 from three-point land. Alma controlled the boards in the first half 16-13, but the Bulldog defense forced 11 turnovers while only handing the ball away twice.
Carson Lutz led the Bulldogs with 13 points in the first half while
Darrius Welch finished the half with 11.
Adrian kept its foot on the gas in the second half and shot 45.5% while making four three-pointers. Lutz went on to finish the game with 26 points followed by 21 from
Seth Logan.
Luke Rager finished with 17 points while Welch tallied 15. Welch and Logan controlled the boards with nine a piece while Rager finished the game with seven assists.
After the Bulldogs claimed a 15-12 lead in the first half, they held the lead the rest of the game. Adrian now holds the No. 6 spot in the MIAA standings with two conference contests to go. If Adrian holds on, they will hold the final spot in the MIAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, February 18 when they travel to The University of Olivet for a 7PM match up.
