ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's volleyball team hosted crosstown rival Siena Heights University on Tuesday night inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, where the Bulldogs fell in straight sets, 3-0.
Adrian came out strong in the opening frame, jumping to a quick 4-0 lead and battling back and forth with the Saints. However, Siena Heights found its rhythm late and closed out the set 25-19. The second set followed a similar script, as the Bulldogs once again started fast before momentum shifted toward the Saints, who controlled the rest of the way for a 25-17 win.
The third set proved to be the most competitive of the night. Adrian pushed Siena Heights to extra points and had opportunities to extend the match, but the Saints held on to edge the Bulldogs 27-25 and secure the sweep.
Virginia Rowan paced Adrian's attack with eight kills, while
Megan Feldmann and
Avery O'Shaughnessy each added seven. Setter
Chloe Kiser dished out 13 assists, with
Emma Leinberger contributing seven more. Defensively,
Rainie Atherton anchored the back row with 15 digs, closely followed by Rowan's 14.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, September 26 where they will head to Bluffton, Ohio to compete in a two-day round robin against Bluffton University, Baldwin Wallace, Hanover College and Heidelberg University.
