ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team hosted conference foe Calvin University in Docking Stadium on Saturday afternoon where the Bulldogs fell 14-10. Highlighted by
Madeline Turcotte scoring four goals in the loss.
The Bulldogs came out firing, opening the game with a three-goal lead courtesy of
Sarah Gross,
Abby Malone, and
Madeline Turcotte. Calvin responded with two goals of their own, but
Kacie Woodall found the back of the net just before the end of the first quarter to give Adrian a 4-2 edge.
Momentum shifted in the second as Calvin rattled off four unanswered goals to grab a 6-5 lead. With just five seconds remaining in the half, Turcotte stepped up once again, scoring her second goal of the day to even the score at 6-6 heading into the break.
Calvin struck early in the third with two quick goals, but Malone completed her hat trick to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance. Still, the Knights managed to carry a 10-7 advantage into the final quarter.
With one last push in the fourth, Adrian showed resilience. Gross tallied her second goal, and Turcotte added her fourth of the contest in a strong offensive stand. Despite the Bulldogs' late surge, Calvin held on and secured a 14-10 win in a hard-fought battle.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, April 16 where they will travel to Albion, Michigan to take on Albion College. The Opening draw is set for 6:00 PM
