Karmen Anderson Nets Overtime Game Winning Goal to Defeat Concordia Wisconsin

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team concluded its series with Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. After a slow start, the Bulldogs fought back to force overtime and ultimately secured a 3-2 victory.

Concordia Wisconsin, which scored the only goal on Friday night, struck early on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead just 23 seconds into the game. The Falcons extended their advantage later in the first period, leading 2-0. Midway through the second, Gia Avalone scored to put Adrian on the board, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Trailing by one in the third period, the Bulldogs pulled their goaltender and capitalized with the extra attacker as Aileena Dopheide netted the equalizer.

In overtime, Adrian opened the extra period with a penalty for too many players on the ice. The Bulldogs successfully killed the penalty and continued with 3-on-3 play. After a timeout, Adrian won the faceoff, allowing Karmen Anderson to skate down the ice and score the game-winning goal.

Kathryn Truban and Riley Johnson each recorded an assist in the contest, while Annie Gilbert made 14 saves in goal.

Adrian will wrap up its regular season next weekend with a series against Trine University, starting with a home game on Friday, February 14, at 7:00 PM.
