LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Adrian College baseball team returned to action on Saturday with a doubleheader to complete their opening weekend in Georgia. The No. 20 Bulldogs opened the day taking on the host school, RV LaGrange College, but struggled to piece together the offense after the first inning and lost game one, 13-2. In the night cap, the Bulldogs faced off with Pfeiffer University and came away with a massive 20-5 win to split the day and come home 2-1 on the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- LaGrange jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first which was quickly answered by Adrian in the bottom half. David Kedrow opened the scoring with an RBI single followed by an RBI single from Linken Hayward to lead 2-1 after the first.
- LaGrange went on to tie the game again in the second before taking the lead in the fourth.
- LaGrange put up a four-run fifth inning before posting three in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth.
- Adrian finished the game with seven hits and three errors in the field. Kedrow and Hayward each had a multi-hit game for the Bulldogs.
- Daniel Gutierrez suffered the loss on the afternoon by tossing three innings allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Griffin Firestine, Logan Hunt, Sean Parker, and Broc Shoemaker pitched in relief for Adrian.
Game 2
- Adrian jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning by taking advantage of three Pfeiffer University errors. After a pair of runs came around to score on throwing errors, Brendan Willadsen smacked a double down the left field like to drive in two more.
- In the third inning the Bulldogs added another run after grounding into a double play with the bases loaded.
- Pfeiffer struck in the fourth inning, but was answered by three runs from the Bulldogs. Nic Bruder hit a sac fly while Kedrow had an RBI single and Zach Wade walked with the bases loaded.
- Pfeiffer added three in the fifth inning which the Bulldogs answered with a 10-run explosive inning. Kedrow, Willadsen, and Wade picked up RBIs before Jack Boike lined a 2-RBI single down the left field line. Nic Bruder knocked in a pair of runs which was followed by another 2-RBI single from Ryan Davis.
- Adrian added two more in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch and another Pfeiffer error.
- Willadsen finished the day 3-for-3 at the plat with three RBIs. Bruder and Kedrow each added three RBIs for Adrian while Kedrow and Joe Casale each scored three times.
- Landon Kozlowski got the start where he threw 3.2 innings allowing one run on four hits with one strikeout.

The Bulldogs will return on March 1 when they kick off their spring break trip down south where they open up with three games in Marshall, Texas starting with Hendrix College at 4:00 PM ET.
