ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Hiram College in a New Year's Eve non-conference matchup inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. The Bulldogs battled throughout but ultimately came up short, falling 91–83.
From the opening tip, the contest was physical on both ends of the floor, with each team getting into early foul trouble, a theme that would define the game. Adrian jumped out to an early lead before Hiram responded with a run to even the score and briefly take control. The Bulldogs answered late in the half, knocking down timely shots and converting at the free-throw line to take a narrow two-point advantage into the locker room.
The back-and-forth nature continued after the break, as neither team was able to create separation for much of the second half. Buckets were traded down the stretch until Hiram put together a late surge, building a six-point cushion and running out the clock to secure the 91–83 victory.
Adrian shot 37 percent from the field and 28 percent from three-point range, while going 30-of-42 from the free-throw line. Seth Logan led all scorers with a season-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Darrius Welch recorded a double-double with 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, adding two assists and a block. Jeremiah Dallas also reached double figures, finishing with 14 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday, January 7 where they will kick-off MIAA play inside the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center as they welcome Kalamazoo College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
