ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Wittenberg University on Wednesday for their 2025–26 home opener, falling 104–90 in a fast-paced, high-scoring contest highlighted by a double-double performance from
Darrius Welch.
From the opening tip, it was clear the game would light up the scoreboard. Both teams came out firing, trading baskets throughout an up-tempo first half. Despite keeping pace offensively, Adrian entered halftime trailing by seven.
The second half brought more of the same offensive fireworks, with both teams continuing to shoot at a high percentage. Wittenberg, however, put together a late surge in the final minutes to pull away and secure the win.
Adrian turned in an efficient shooting night, going 53% from the field, 57% from three-point range, and 16-for-22 at the free-throw line. Welch finished with 17 points, a season-high 14 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Seth Logan added 16 points, two rebounds, and three assists, while
Brendon Schlink contributed 15 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
