ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College ACHA Division I women's hockey team picked up a hard-fought 2–1 overtime win over no. 13 Indiana Tech on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena, and a 4-2 win on the road at Indiana Tech
Indiana Tech struck first just 2:20 into the opening period to give the Warriors the early edge Thursday evening. Despite several chances for both sides, the Bulldogs couldn't find the equalizer before the first intermission. Adrian responded in the second, capitalizing on the power play at 6:24. Graduate student Hailey Wiltshire evened the game with her eighth of the season, finishing a setup from senior Genessie Williams and junior Chloe Gregory. The Bulldogs controlled much of the period, outshooting the Warriors 14–2 in the frame. Neither side broke through in the third, regulation ended knotted at 1–1, forcing extra time. Adrian wasted no time in overtime. Just 35 seconds into the extra frame, Whiltshire netted the game-winner to complete the comeback and secure the victory. Adrian outshot Indiana Tech 43–22 overall , with graduate student Rieley Jessie-Gerelli making 21 saves between the pipes.
Friday afternoon, Adrian opened the scoring at 4:04 of the first period when Wiltshire recorded her 3rd goal of the series on the power play, assisted by Williams. The Bulldogs maintained the 1–0 lead through a penalty-heavy first frame. The Warriors tied the game early in the second period however, the Bulldogs quickly regained control just minutes later when senior Taylor Robinson found the back of the net at 7:28, with assists awarded to senior Tyla Turnbull and sophomore Nadia Nickel. Adrian extended its lead to 3–1 at 14:58 after junior Sierra Raatz capitalized on a feed from Wiltshire. Indiana Tech tightened the score to 3–2 in the third period however, Adrian responded promptly once again, as Turnbull scored her sixth of the season at 11:20, assisted by Gregory and Raatz, restoring a two-goal advantage the Bulldogs carried through the final buzzer. Despite being outshot 29–26, the Bulldogs controlled key moments of the game and maintained momentum after each Indiana Tech push. Sophomore goaltender Olivia Towpich earned the win for Adrian, stopping 27 of 29 shots in a complete 60-minute performance.
With this sweep the WD1 Bulldogs improve to a 9-6-2 overall record (5-0) as they head into another conference matchup Friday and Saturday against Miami (OH). Friday's game will be home for a 3:00 PM puck drop, while Saturday on the road at Miami for a 2:00 PM puck drop.
