Club Softball Fell Short in a Triple-Header vs Central Michigan Univeristy

MOUNT PLEASANT, MICH. – The Adrian Bulldogs' club softball team took on Central Michigan's Chippewas in a triple-header this past weekend.

In the opener, sophomore Allison Bell sparked Adrian's offense, driving in two runs with a solid hit. The Bulldogs held the lead through the third inning, but Central Michigan rallied late to secure the win. Freshman Sara Kozel delivered a double to center field, while freshman Michelle Huffman and junior Jocelyn Schuster each contributed a hit to the Bulldog offense. Despite a strong start, Adrian came up just short in a hard-fought game.

In game two, freshman Greer Simpson opened the scoring for Adrian with an RBI single in the second inning. Freshman Brianna Scott shined at the plate with two base hits, while sophomore Elizabeth Grady also contributed with a hit. Junior Jocelyn Schuster followed with a clutch sacrifice fly to left field, allowing freshman Kyleigh McClanahan to cross the plate and tie the game. Despite the Bulldogs' early efforts, Central Michigan surged ahead in the later innings, ultimately taking the win in game two.

In the final game of the day, the Bulldogs came out swinging, scoring seven runs across the first two innings. The first run came after an error by Central Michigan's first baseman, allowing Sara Kozel to cross the plate and kick off the scoring. Later in the inning, sophomore Allison Bell doubled to left field, driving in Michelle Huffman. In the following inning, Kozel continued her strong performance with an RBI single, bringing home sophomore Alyssa Kamm. Adrian tacked on four more runs in the second inning. Bell had an outstanding game, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Central Michigan, however, mounted a comeback, cutting into Adrian's lead by the fifth inning and ultimately taking the lead in the eighth. Junior Alexis Hart-Bucher kept the Bulldogs in the fight, stealing home in the top of the eighth to tie the game. Despite their best efforts, Adrian fell just short in a thrilling 9-10 loss.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, September 27th at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM where they will take on Delta College on the road in University Center, Mich.
