THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Adrian College men's volleyball team opened its season on Friday night in California in day one of the Cal Lutheran Quad. The Bulldogs were tasked with No. 6 Vassar College to begin the year. Adrian battled with the 2023 Division III Semifinalist, but dropped the match, 3-0.
 
Adrian dropped the first set by a score of 25-22 followed by a 25-20 second set loss before losing the third 25-15.
 
The Bulldogs performed well in the opening set compiling 12 kills with only four errors. Adrian finished the first set with a hitting percentage of .320 against Vassar's .154. Adrian struggled a bit in second set finishing with just four kills. Vassar kept it close by allowing four Bulldog aces and totaling nine service errors. In the third set, the Bulldogs finished with a hitting percentage of .040 with eight kills and seven errors.
 
Chase Heuer led the team with ten kills on the evening followed by four from Beck Fieldhouse. Andrew Gawrisch finished with 13 assists while David Barona totaled nine. Jacob Rembulat led the team with ten digs.
 
Adrian will finish the Cal Lutheran Quad on Saturday afternoon when they face the California Lutheran Kingsmen and the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs. The first match will start tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 PM EST followed by the second match at 7:00 PM EST.
