Women's Hockey Grabs Another Conference Victory with 5-1 Win over Concordia Wisconsin

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team completed its series with Concordia Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs came away with a 5-1 win over the Falcons to sweep the series.

In the first period, Kathryn Truban gave the Bulldogs the early lead at 1-0 on assists from Callie Wollschlager and Aileena Dopheide. With less than a minute to go in the period, Zoe Lohrei extended the lead to 2-0.

In the second period, the Falcons found themselves on a breakaway and scored their first goal of the series to make it a one goal game. Just over a minute later, Adrian responded to make it 3-1. Truban scored her second goal of the game unassisted.

In the third period, Jessica VonRuden added to the scoring with a goal two minutes into the period on a power play. Late in the period, Kaleigh Cadorette added a goal to bring the final score to 5-1.

Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal for Adrian on Sunday afternoon where she finished the day with 15 saves.

In the NCHA standings, Adrian currently sits in third place behind Aurora University and first place St. Norbert College. The Bulldogs have 33 points in 12 games played in conference while Aurora has 35 points in 14 games and St. Norbert has 40 points with 14 games. Aurora and St. Norbert have one more series each the rest of the season which is against the Bulldogs. Adrian will look to add to their point total and sneak into first place.

Adrian will travel to Aurora University next weekend for a two-game series. With a sweep over the Spartans, the Bulldogs can move into second place and be one point behind St. Norbert with a pair of regulation wins. That series is scheduled to begin on Friday, February 10 at 8:00 PM EST.
