DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The longest road trip of the year for the Bulldogs this weekend as the Adrian College men's volleyball team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa for a four-match tournament hosted by Loras College. On Saturday, Adrian took on Marian (Wis.) and Loras dropping both sets by scores of 3-1 and 3-0.
Adrian began the day with Marian after falling to the Sabres two weeks ago on it's home court. Marian came away with another win by a score of 3-1. The Bulldogs dropped the first set 25-23, but tied the match with a 25-22 second set win. Marian went on to with 25-22 and 25-22 to complete the victory.Â
The Bulldogs finished the match with an attach percentage of .180 led by a high of .267 in the second set. The team recorded 53 kills with 28 errors against only 16 errors from Marian.
Chase Heuer led the Bulldogs with 21 kills followed by 13 from
Andrew Gawrisch and eight from
Tedrick Gula.
Brandon Ravelo went on a serving run and picked up five aces and 43 assists.
Adrian struggled to bounce back against Loras as they were swept 3-0. The Duhawks won all three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-14. The Bulldogs played well to start with a .276 attack percentage in the first set on 11 kils with only three errors. Adrian then posted a .188 against Loras' .333 in the second set followed by a .033 against the Duhawks' .500 in the third.
Gula led the team this match in kills with 10 followed by nine from Gawrisch and seven from Heuer.
Adrian will look to bounce back on Sunday to finish the tournament with matches against Edgewood College and Augustana College at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM EST.
