ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College NCAA women's hockey team took game one of the regular season final series against St. Norbert on Friday afternoon. Prior to game two on Saturday, the Bulldogs honored it's six seniors during a special senior day ceremony before puck drop. Adrian went on to sweep the series against St. Norbert in a 3-2 overtime battle.
The first period went silent with each team scorless through 20 minutes of play. Both teams had an opportunity on the power play in the first, but the attempts went unsucessful.Â
In the second period, the Green Knights from St. Norbert struck first to take a 1-0 lead halfway into the period. With seconds remaining in the period
Maya Roy found the netting to tie the game 1-1 heading into the second intermission.
St. Norbert went ahead again in the third to take a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes to go in regulation. Adrian went on the power play and
Kaleigh Cadorette scored to tie the game 2-2. A winner wasn't determined after 60 minutes which forced 3-on-3 overtime.
It wasn't long into overtime until we had a winner. Cadorette received a pass from Roy leading to a 2-on-0 for the Bulldogs. Cadorette passed to Karmer Anderson who quickly passed it back for the game winner from Cadorette to win 3-2.
Denisa Jandova got the win in goal allowing two goals with 20 saves.
Adrian returns to action on Friday, February 25 as they will play host of the quarter final round of the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs at 7:00 PM.
