INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Adrian College club softball was back in action this past weekend at the Indy Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana, where the Lady Bulldogs took on a variety of teams and secured a victory in the process.
The first matchup for Adrian College was at 9:30 a.m. to take in the Golden Eagles of Marquette University.
Haley Holmes was on the mound for Adrian as they got out to a quick start recording five runs in the top of the 1st inning. Marquette had something to say about that though and recorded 10 of their own. It was quiet after the 1st inning until Adrian made a push in the final two innings, recording four runs and falling short by a score of 11-9.

Kerri Selzer and Jocelyn Schuster all recorded runs for the Bulldogs. with
Jadeyn Lasley and
Lyta Glombowski each recording an RBI.
The Bulldogs faced the University of Wisconsin at 11:30 a.m. where they fell by a score of 10-1 to drop to 0-2 on the day.
A bright light did shine in the Bulldogs favor as they took on Oakland University for their final game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. winning the matchup by a score of 10-6. The Adrian held the Golden Grizzlies scoreless for the first inning and took advantage by recording a pair of runs. Adrian kept this momentum throughout the entire game, scoring in every inning except the 5th, where Oakland minimized their deficit to 8-6. Adrian would go on to score another pair of runs and put Oakland behind them to secure their first win of the season.
Alexia Tobias and
Kerri Selzer had a fantastic day at the plate, each recording three hits. Selzer also contributed two RBI's on the day as well.
Summer Gaines and
Ashlyn Vaculik also contributed to the RBI's with two hits of their own to help the Bulldogs to the 10-6 win.
Adrian College had one final contest to get up for early the next morning where they faced Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks. The Bulldogs held their own through a tough game, but fell short 13-12.
The Bulldogs finished the weekend 1-3 and are 1-6 on the season. The club softball team is back in action this upcoming weekend playing at Michigan State University on Sunday, October 16th for a three-game series. First pitch is set to be at 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00.
