DE PERE, Wis. – The women's hockey team travelled to take on St. Norbert College Friday night. The Bulldogs were looking to knock off the Green Knights to take the season series from St. Norbert and earn home ice in the NCHA Slaats Cup playoffs. St. Norbert would not give in to the Bulldogs as they came back from a 2-1 Adrian lead after two periods to force a 2-2 tie. This tie leaves the overall record for Adrian at 17-0-4 with a 12-0-3 mark in the NCHA.
The Bulldogs came out and dominated the first period by firing 13 shots on goal while allowing just six as they took the 1-0 lead. Kaylyn Schroka broke the scoreless tie at the 17:27 mark of the first period on the power play from Sydney Smith.
Adrian kept this momentum going into the second period as they would total 13 more shots and up their lead to 2-0. Hannah McGowan would score from Kelsey Kusch and Lexie Tzafaroglou at the 13:54 mark for her ninth of the season.
St. Norbert would not back down from there as they would fight to even the score. The Green Knights would cut the lead in half at the 16:30 mark of the second period on a power play goal from Jillian Kostek. St. Norbert would use the power play again in the third period to even the score as Katie Conlon scored with 6:53 remaining in the game to force overtime.
The overtime period saw the Bulldogs fire five shots on goal while allowing four, but the score remained tied, 2-2, as the teams each received a point in the NCHA standings.
Jade Walsh (17-0-4) earned the decision in goal for Adrian by making 29 saves in 65 minutes of action.
The Bulldogs will travel to take on No. 8 Wisconsin-Stevens Point tomorrow (2/7) for a 3:30 ET puck drop.
