ADRIAN, Mich. - The 2011 senior class did what they do best on Saturday...win. The Bulldogs eclipsed the 30-win plateau for the fourth straight season with a doubleheader sweep of Kalamazoo College at Nicolay Field. Adrian claimed a 6-4 win in game one and then followed that with a 5-2 win in game two to improve to 15-2 at home this season.
The nine spot was lucky for the Bulldogs in game one as Michael Herzog went 3-for-3 with a career-high four RBI. He had a two-run single in the second inning and also had a run-scoring single in the third and fifth. Kyle Strawn went 1-for-2 with an RBI single in the third and also scored two runs and drew a walk.
Brian Bilius went 1-for-2 with a walk and his 13th double of the season. Nate Sarkissian was 1-for-3 with a walk and his 10th double of the season. The game featured a one-hour and 12-minute lightning delay but that did not stop senior hurler Ryan Domschot from picking up his sixth win of the season. He went seven innings and allowed seven hits and three earned runs. In addition, he walked four and struck out seven while throwing 69 of his 109 pitches for strikes.
Bilius collected his 199th career hit in game two with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Jake Cappelletty had a pair of RBI with a two-run single through the right side in the fifth. Nate Clark went 1-for-2 with a run, walk and his second triple of the season in the second inning. The Bulldogs were hit by a pitch three times in game two and seven times total for the day.
David Partyka took the ball in game two and improved to 8-1 for the second straight year. Partyka went the distance and allowed four hits and two earned runs. He also walked four and struck out the same in a 103-pitch outing. Herzog added another RBI in game two and upped his average to .451 this season.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, May 10 as they host Hope College in a make-up doubleheader starting at 2:00 PM.
