Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. – It was a tough night for the Adrian College women's hockey team as they were shutout for only the second time all season in a 3-0 loss to St. Norbert College. The Bulldogs have already locked up the #2 seed in next week's O'Brien Cup Playoffs with their record now at 14-7-3 overall and 12-4-3 in the NCHA.
St. Norbert got on the board first with just under four minutes left in the first period on a goal by Karissa Anderson. Despite Adrian holding an 8-3 shot advantage in the first period, the Green Knights led 1-0 at the first intermission.
In the second, St. Norbert took advantage of a Bulldog penalty as they netted a power play goal less than a minute into the man-up advantage. The Green Knights added to their lead five minutes later on a goal by Lauren Straus to go up by the final score of 3-0. Adrian would out-shoot St. Norbert 12-7 in the final period but were unable to get past the Green Knights goalie.
Junior Brooke Zaleski (Toledo, Ohio) led Adrian with five shots on goal. Senior Jessica Grubbs (Woodbridge, Va.) and junior Olivia Rork (Wayne, Mich.) each had four shots on goal on the night.
In net for the Bulldogs was freshman Emily Michelin (Highland, Mich.) who made 18 saves in the loss.
The loss snaps the Bulldogs four game winning streak. For the game, the Bulldogs out-shot St, Norbert 28-21. The Green Knights were 1-of-4 on the power play while Adrian was 0-for-3.
Adrian and St. Norbert will face off again on Saturday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. (est.).
