Final Stats

ANGOLA, Ind. - The women's basketball team hit clutch free throws in the second half and hung on to defeat Trine, 52-47, in Angola on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs were 18-of-23 in the second half at the foul line which came in handy as they went the final 8:13 without a field goal. Jennifer Perrin was steady at the line going 7-of-8 and finished with a team-high 13 points. It was her fourth straight game leading the Bulldogs in scoring. Perrin was also 3-of-6 from the field and grabbed four boards in 34 minutes.

The first half was the lowest scoring half of the season for Adrian (6-5, 2-1) as they trailed 15-13 at the break. AC shot 5-of-22 (22.7%) in the first half while the Thunder were 6-of-22 (27.3%). Each team also had double-digit turnovers but things began to pick up a little bit in the second half.

Adrian gained a 21-19 lead at the 16:08 mark of the second half on a jump shot by Ashley McClarren for the team's first lead since the 3:25 mark of the first half. Trine regained the lead a few minutes later and stretched their advantage to 30-26 with 11:25 left on a Kristen Julian bucket.

The key run came at this juncture as the Bulldogs scored the game's next 11 points to grab a 37-30 lead with 8:13 to play. Elysia Norris scored the first four points of the run followed by a Kayla Galecka jumper, and five straight points from Katie Ross including a triple to give AC the seven-point cushion.

Trine cut the lead to two from that point but did not regain the lead as Adrian finished the game at the line going 15-of-18 in the final 8:13. Adrian finished 21-of-28 at the line (75%) and 15-of-43 from the field (34.9%). McClarren added 11 points and six boards in 36 minutes. Norris had nine points and nine boards off the bench.
