ADRIAN, Mich. - The baseball team swept a pair of games on Friday against Trine by scoring runs early and then letting their pitching and defense do the rest. Adrian claimed a 7-0 win in game one scoring three runs in the first and two more in the third. Ryan Domschot needed just one run it would turn out as he pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout fanning seven Thunder hitters.

Domschot did not allow an extra base hit and Trine left just four runners on base as he improved to 7-0 on the season. Chad Nichter took the loss going five innings and allowing 11 hits and four earned runs. Zach Bour threw one relief inning and gave up a run in the sixth. Jake Cappelletty went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the third. Andrew Anderson also went 1-for-3 with his first triple of the season and a run scored. Alex Cowart went 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. Todd Meyers went 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Adrian scored five runs in the first three innings in game two and cruised to a 6-1 win. Trine took a 1-0 lead in the first as Todd Shadley hit a sacrifice fly. Adrian answered with one in the first and then Steve Vanderheyden delivered the big blow of the game in the second. Vanderheyden took the first pitch and sent it over the left center field wall with two on for his third home run of the season to make the score 4-1.

Alex Webster seemed to settle in after getting run support as he kept the Thunder off the board over the last six innings. Webster improved to 4-1 on the mound allowing seven hits in a 85-pitch outing. Webster did not allow a walk and struck out two. Jason Buck went six innings for Trine and allowed 11 hits and six earned runs in a 105-pitch outing.

Meyers hit his 11th double and was 3-for-3 with two runs in game two. Cowart hit his eighth double of the season and stole his 11th base going 2-for-2 with a walk. Anderson also collected two hits in four at-bats in the nightcap. Adrian has won 11 straight games and improved to 17-7 overall and 11-1 in the MIAA.
