On a night when Adrian outshot Utica, 50-14, the Pioneers found the back of the net twice as much as the Bulldogs in a 4-2 decision for UC. After an evenly played first period in which Adrian held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal, the Bulldogs outshot Utica 19-4 in the second and 22-5 in the third.
Jill Doherty made 48 saves standing on her head most of the game against the Bulldog firing squad. Adrian scored both of their goals on the power play in six tries. Trailing 2-0 in the second period, AC got a Stacey Kempson goal with assists from Shana Davis and Jessica Grubbs at 1:18 of the third period.
Utica upped their lead to 4-1 with goals at 6:09 by Meghan McMahon and at 7:50 on the power play by Darcy Hier. Prenella Semma scored for the second straight day at 12:15 with assists from Brooke Zaleski and Jenna Corbin.
Kempson was busy once again with 13 shots on goal to lead the team. Zaleski added seven shots and Semma and Danielle Maludy each had five shots. Ashley Drop got her first start in goal and made 10 saves in 58:43.
